Kotonoha (School Days) X Male Reader - Ch. 5

It was an average day, you got your clothes ready, and headed off.  You were looking forward to meeting your best friend and crush, Kotonoha.

 

 

You were walking to school, when you passed a beautiful looking garden. You saw a glorious patch of (Favorite Flower), they reminded you of Kotonoha in a strange way, so you plucked a few of them and continued to school

 

 

You had a thought of finally confessing your love. You were hoping today would be the day, I mean,  waiting 2 years to confess is normal, right?

 

 

Of course, in the back of your mind, you knew you’d probably quit before you’d confess.  You hoped you’d work up the courage today as you got some paper from your school bag, and made a makeshift bouquet

You arrived to class, ready to give Kotonoha your flower, as you hid the bouquet behind your back

 

 

You looked around, and saw your one of your friends, (F/n), who was just hanging at his desk

 

 

(M/n): Hey (Friend’s nickname), what’s up?

 

(F/n): Hey, (M/n)! Oh, Kotonoha was looking for you. She wanted you to meet someone.

 

 

You were confused as to who Kotonoha wanted you to meet, she didn’t have many friends, and you already knew her family.

 

 

(M/n): Oh, where is she?

 

 

(F/n) pointed to the other side of the room, you saw the love of your life wrapped in the arms of another boy, you fought to hold back tears

 

 

(F/n): Yeah, they’ve been hanging off each other all morning, I think Sekai introduced them.

 

 

As (F/n) went on his spiel about Kotonoha and her new boyfriend, you quietly threw your bouquet in the trash. It hurt so much. You would finally confess, and this nobody stole her from you

 

 

Kotonoha and her new boyfriend were locked in a tight hug

 

 

(F/n): I think she really likes him, they haven’t left each others side all day

 

 

You were too distraught to speak, you tried not to cry, but you could just sigh.

 

 

Upon hearing your sad sigh, (F/n) remembered you had a huge crush on her, so he did his best to console you, which was never his strong suit

 

 

(F/n): Maybe you should forget about her, you know I know a couple girls who like you as well.

 

 

(M/n): Yeah, I guess

 

You said disinterested, you knew there were some girls who did like you, but none as special as Kotonoha.

 

 

(F/n) patted you on the shoulder,

 

 

(F/n): Maybe you’ll get lucky, and he’ll give you sloppy seconds.

 

 

You forced a smile, and as you did, you noticed Kotonoha grab her boyfriends hand and lead him over to you.

 

 

Kotonoha: This is the guy I was telling you about, we’ve been best friends for as long as I can remember, since we were kids.

 

 

Her boyfriend just waved at you, she held tightly onto his arm

 

 

Kotonoha: (M/n), this is Makoto. He’s…He’s my boyfriend.

 

 

You forced yourself to shake Makoto’s hand

------------------------Present Day

 

You shuttered at the memories, that was the day she met the bastard who stole her from you, got her pregnant and abandoned her like she was nothing.

 

You sat in the hospital room as Kotonoha stood up and followed the doctor

 

 

Kotonoha: Wait, thank you so much (M/n)

 

 

Kotonoha said as she gave you a quick kiss on the cheek and walked off, you felt like you would melt from her kiss.

 

 

But now, you had a huge problem, how would you pay for this operation?

 

 

You exited the room and the clinic

You searched high and low of your home, and found a good amount of change in the couch cushions, after finding barely 500 yen, you ran to your piggy bank.

 

 

You opened it, and found 10,000 yen you had saved up, it was your entire life savings you had, mostly from being a penny pincher and saving every thing you made from work

 

 

It was still 15,000 yen short You looked around your room, and saw (Most Precious Antique You Own), hopefully it would be worth enough

You walked into a pawn shop, holding (Most Precious Antique You Own), and set it on the counter

 

 

After some haggling, he gave you 8,000 yen for it.

You sat in your bed, you counted the money. You still needed 7,000 yen

 

With only 3 hours before you had to pick her up, you needed to make some quick cash.

 

You left and strolled around town, passing by a blood drive.

After getting poked with a needle, and having blood drawn, which was one of your most major fears, you had received 4,000 yen.

 

You left the blood drive, groggy and still 3,000 yen short. You had expanded every option, now all that was left was borrowing from your boss, so you ran to (favorite restauraunt), which you work at to earn extra money

 

You entered (Favorite restaurant) and approached the manager, who was busy in the lunch rush, observing other workers

 

 

(Boss’s name): Hey, (M/n), what are you doing here? It’s your day off!

 

 

(M/n): Look Sir/Maham, I  need to talk to you, it’s important!

 

 

(Boss’s name): Can’t you see we’re busy, it’s the middle of the lunch rush!

 

 

(M/n): Please, this won’t take long.

 

 

Your boss sighs and leads you to his/her office.

 

 

(Boss’s name): What’s wrong?

 

 

(M/n): I need to borrow 3,000 yen!

 

 

(Boss’s name): Are you crazy?! What for?

 

 

(M/n): Please, it’s an emergency!

 

 

Your boss sighed, and started getting the money out of their wallet

 

 

(Boss’s name): You owe me back, with interest!

 

(M/n): Yeah, Yeah!

 

 

You rushed out of the restaurant and to the clinic

It took everything out of you, but you finally had all the money you’d need,

 

 26,000 yen

 

 

You took a deep breath and entered the clinic, and walked up to the front desk, spotting the same doctor from earlier

 

 

Doctor: Oh, are you the boy who was with Miss Katsura?

 

 

(M/n): Yes, how is she?

 

 

The doctor just cleared her throat and held out her hand, for the money. You handed it to her, upon seeing the wad of cash, you realized, this was the most expensive thing you have ever bought

 

 

(M/n): How is she?

 

 

Doctor: The operation was successful, you can take her home now. But, keep in mind, The effects of the anesthesia are still on her body, so she’ll probably sleep through tomorrow. She’s in room 24

 

 

You left and went down the winding corridor, stopping at room 24

 

 

You entered and saw Kotonoha sleeping, she looked almost like an angel. You felt horrible about having to wake her up, but you lightly tapped her on the shoulder, and whispered in her ear

 

 

(M/n): Kotonoha, it’s time to go.

 

 

Kotonoha stirred, and slowly opened her beautiful eyes at you. You gave her the warmest smile you’ve even given, and she smiled back, even letting out a little giggle.

You led Kotonoha into your house, it was quiet since your parents were walking all weekend. Which was normal, so you never really got to see them.

 

 

You and Kotonoha walked into your living room

 

 

(M/n): Well Kotonoha, I hope you enjoy yourself here. If you ever get hungry, please let me know. I’m no Gordon Ramsay, but I know my way around a kitchen. I hope you like ramen noodles. Of course, I mean, you probably aren’t hungry.

 

 

Kotonoha studied your home, it had been a while since she’d been here.

 

 

You looked back, and noticed Kotonoha staring at something on your coffee table. Whatever it was it was making her cry.

 

 

As a tear fell from her face, you looked at the picture she was staring at, it was a photo of when you, her, and Makoto visited a public pool.

 

 

She had a small grin, you were standing on her right, with a giant smile and doing the bunny ears gesture behind Kotonoha’s head, Makoto stood on her left, with a very neutral, bored, and “I’d rather not be here” expression.

 

 

Kotonoha: Makoto…

 

 

Upon speaking his name, she just bursted out crying, you held her tight

 

 

(M/n): Shh, Shh. Please don’t cry, I’ll help you, he can’t hurt you anymore. Please, just don’t cry.

 

 

The rest of the weekend had been rather peaceful, Kotonoha mostly slept all evening and most of Saturday morning. You often brought her small snacks like crackers, and water all throughout the day, since she had been told to eat lightly for a couple days.

Saturday evening, you went into Kotonoha’s room, she let out a big yawn  and sat up.

 

 

Kotonoha: Morning (M/n).

 

 

(M/n): It’s actually evening.

 

 

Kotonoha: But the sun’s rising?

 

 

She pointed out the window, the sun was down, but it was setting not rising. You explained it to her, and she just giggled at it.

 

 

You and Kotonoha caught up, you talked for nearly an hour, but you were deathly careful to not mention Makoto, as she went into a crying fit whenever you brought up his name,

 

 

(M/n): Well, I’m making some chicken breast, you want some?

 

 

Kotonoha: No…I’m not hungry.

 

 

Just then, her stomach growls louder then a bear, causing her face to grow a deep shade of red

 

 

Kotonoha: Ok, I lied. I am hungry.

 

 

You rushed to the kitchen, and made Kotonoha a plate of your Chicken breast and mashed potatoes, and even poured her a glass of (Favorite juice)

 

 

You and her had a nice meal, like a husband and wife, it felt like when you used to play house when you were kids.

 

 

She loved your food so much, she even asked for a second helping.

 

 

-------------Timeskip------------------

 

 

You were washing the dishes from your meal earlier, it was late, dark and lonely. Your hands were all red and more wrinkly then an old man.

 

 

After a few minutes of scrubbing, you felt someone hug you from behind, and rest their head on your shoulder.

 

 

Kotonoha: Whatcha doin’?

 

 

(M/n): Just cleaning, you?

 

 

Kotonoha: Not much, I was just watching your dvd’s of (Favorite show), I can’t really get into it.

 

 

You laughed, since you and her never really agreed on tv shows.

 

 

Kotonoha: Anyway, I really want to thank you for helping me, I don’t know what I would have done without you. You’ve really been a true friend.

 

 

Friend. That word haunted your dreams, if she only knew what you felt

 

 

She left you alone, but you knew the opportunity was too good to pass up, so you quickly dried your hands and joined her in your room.

 

 

(M/n): Kotonoha, can we talk?

 

 

Kotonoha: Sure. What’s wrong?

(M/n): Well Kotonoha, It…It’s just that

 

 

Kotonoha had a look of concern, you never stuttered.

 

 

(M/n): I…I…I love you.

 

 

Kotonoha slightly gasped, the softness in your voice showed you were genuine

 

 

Kotonoha: Y…You do?

 

 

Kotonoha started twirling her hair, with a nervous expression

 

 

(M/n): Yes, I always have, from the bottom of my heart, for as long as I can remember. I’ve always loved you, I’ve tried to tell you, so many times, but I just couldn’t get the words out, and then you started dating Makoto, and it hurt me so much.

 

 

You started crying slightly, Kotonoha started to weep a little bit too

 

 

Kotonoha: Oh my God, (M/n), I had no idea. I’m so sorry I hurt you like that.

 

 

Kotonoha grabbed your hand and looked into your eyes

 

 

Kotonoha: Please, forgive me. You’re the best person in my life, you’ve done so much for me, I don’t want to let you go.

 

 

Kotonoha grabbed you and pulled you into a tight hug, you 2 cried in each others arms, after almost 30 minutes of hugging, you 2 pulled away and looked deep into each others eyes.

 

 

Slowly, your guys moved your heads closer together, you both closed your eyes and she placed a tender kiss on your lips, it was the happiest you’ve ever felt, you and your childhood friend, your crush of many years were kissing, you solely wished this moment would last forever.
